Liber I
Black City Liber I: The City
Greetings Devil!
I am writing this because I made a revelation a page or so into reworking Pars II of this comic; I have been doing this wrong.
Black City has been a journey for me. A long one and only around Pars III that I finally realized where I really wanted to take it and the style got honed in. some of the pages were updated in a vain attempt to look like I know what I was doing from page one, but that isn’t true, it wouldn’t be honest.
I admit that if I wanted at least this Liber to make it big, maybe I should go back and redo all the pages so they match the pages towards the end (or the beginning since the entire first Pars was redrawn). But I feel that wouldn’t be creatively honest and I would have the readers miss out on an opportunity to see how the style and the overall content of Black City evolved over time.
This volume was long in the making with many false starts and a few times where I personally felt like I should no longer be an artist, but through great people that have, for some reason, gravitated around me, it got done and I started to feel a passion for it again.
So to those reading this comic, wanting to start your own and needing a bit of inspiration, just remember, things change, life happens, and you get better over time.
I want this Liber of Black City to reflect that.
Thank you.
